The unglamorous half of hardline. A perfect bend still leaks if the end is cut at 88 degrees instead of 90, and a burr you cannot see will shave an o-ring the first time you seat a fitting.

You'll need
Rotary tube cutter or fine-tooth saw
Deburring tool or fine file
400+ grit wet sandpaper
Square or fitting to check against
Lint-free cloth
System Soap
Step 01 of 6
Measure against the fitting, not the port
Take your length from where the tube actually bottoms out inside the fitting, not from the face of the port. Add the insertion depth at both ends.
Why this matters
Forgetting insertion depth is the single most common cause of a run that is 8 mm short and unusable.
