Not a coolant by itself
This is high-purity water and nothing else. Run it alone and you have an unprotected mixed-metal loop — it needs Liquid Utopia, True, or your own additive method mixed in before it goes anywhere near a build.
Prep before the first fill
A new build gets SysPrep; a system that has already run coolant gets System Reboot instead. Either way, PrimoPrep on tubing and fittings before final assembly. Guides below.
Build your own protection
Pair it with Liquid Utopia for a straightforward dose-and-go inhibitor package, with True if you also want colour, or run your own kill coil if that is your preferred method — this bottle carries none of that built in.
Runs 24/7 once protected
Once mixed with an inhibitor, there is no duty-cycle limit on the loop it goes into — the restriction is only ever on running it unprotected.
Appearance

Base — DI Water ships in a single finish — clear · no additives. There is no colour range to choose from, which is the point: nothing in the bottle exists to be looked at.

How it works

DI versus distilled

Both are purified, by different methods. Distillation boils water and condenses the steam, leaving dissolved solids behind. Deionisation strips the charged ions out through resin. DI comes out lower in conductivity, which is the number that matters in a loop where a leak meets live hardware.

It is deliberately incomplete

There is no inhibitor and no biocide in this bottle, and that is the point — it is a base, not a coolant. Run it on its own and you have an unprotected mixed-metal loop that will grow something within weeks. It exists to be mixed with True or Liquid Utopia.

Why not the supermarket

Grocery distilled water is inconsistent and often stored in containers that leach. For a 32 oz top-up on a show build, a known-purity bottle removes a variable for the price of a coffee. For a full gallon fill, buy distilled by the jug and use this for topping up.

Service interval

Fill slowly, bleed for 24 hours with the pump running and the system off. Check every fitting twice — a paper towel under each joint tells you more than a pressure gauge.

For Base — DI Water specifically

Two years unopened. On its own it has no service interval, because it should never run on its own — once mixed with an inhibitor, that fluid is on the same 12-month clock as any other daily driver.
